Conference on the 3R Initiative under the German G8 Presidency in Bonn from 4 to 6 October 2007

04.10.2007

Location: Bonn

Teilnehmer: Gabriel, Sigmar
Following an agreement at the G8 Sea Island Summit in June 2004, the 3R Initiative (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) was set up as a significant forum for promoting efficient use of resources and materials at both national and international levels.
In this context a Ministerial Conference as well as a Senior Officials Meeting on the 3R Initiative, hosted in Japan in 2005-2006, established a fruitful dialogue among the G8, other countries and international organisations. Issues raised and discussed so far include cooperation among developed and developing countries and various stakeholders and the promotion of science and technology in the field of the 3Rs.

The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety would like to emphasise the need to pursue the 3R Initiative and elaborate measures for an environmentally sound and economically feasible waste management in the context of the efficient use of resources.

We are pleased to announce the follow-up Senior Officials Meeting "International Progress in Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3R)"

to be held from 4 to 6 October 2007 in Bonn and attended by Minister Sigmar Gabriel.
The meeting will include
  • presentations by individual countries and organisations,
  • dedicated workshops,
  • excursions to waste management sites and
  • a round-table G8 discussion on future actions.
